CHINA HOMELIFE OPENS DOORS FOR TRADE AND INVESTMENT

10th China HomeLife and Machinex Trade Fair

JOHANNESBURG – The 10th China Homelife and Machinex Trade Fair opened at Gallagher Convention Centre in Midrand on Wednesday, 23rd September, bringing more than 500 verified Chinese exhibitors and over 10,000 products to South Africa.


Running until Friday, 25th September, the three-day exhibition connects Chinese manufacturers with South African and African importers, wholesalers, retailers, entrepreneurs and business leaders across sectors including machinery, energy, household products, home appliances, building materials, textiles, garments, appliances and electronics. The exhibition provides businesses with an opportunity to engage directly with manufacturers, discover new products, compare offerings and explore sourcing, distribution, investment and partnership opportunities.


The opening ceremony brought together representatives from Chinese trade authorities, local government, business organisations and international institutions, including Hu Songxiao, Deputy Director of the Wenzhou Municipal Bureau of Commerce; Councillor Lwando Resha, Member of the Municipal Council for Local Economic Development on behalf of the Executive Mayor of Mogale City; Paula Franco, Deputy President of the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry; Richard Ntjana, CEO of the Randburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry (RCCI); and Binu Pillai, Chief Operating Officer of Meorient International Exhibition.

Speaking at the ceremony, Ntjana said the exhibition provides an important platform for Chinese manufacturers and South African businesses to build practical partnerships at a time when stronger trade relations and investment are increasingly important to the economy.He highlighted the opportunities for local entrepreneurs and established businesses to connect directly with manufacturers, explore new technologies and develop relationships that can support sustainable trade and growth.

Resha said the exhibition aligns with Mogale City’s economic development objectives, particularly around manufacturing localisation, industrial development, technology,investment attraction and enterprise development. “Let us build a bridge between Africa and China. Let us transform trade into investment,” he said, highlighting the potential for partnerships to create jobs and contribute to economic prosperity.

Supported by the Johannesburg Chamber of Commerce and Industry, RCCI, the University of Johannesburg and the Southern African Alternative Energy Association, China Homelife South Africa continues to create a platform for businesses to explore opportunities that can strengthen Africa-China trade and contribute to local economic development.
