It has been an eventful journey for Selamolela Construction and Projects since establishment in 2006. The company has grown in leaps and bounds, relative to its humble beginnings. This is well reflected in its project portfolio.
Malose William Lamola, the sole shareholder and managing director, through wise and visionary leadership, has steered Selamolela Construction and Projects on the right growth path. Under his administration, the company’s reputation as a provider of plumbing, renovations, gardening, maintenance, cleaning, amongst others, has been growing consistently.
It has not been a smooth passage, though.
Lamola was confronted by challenges when he started Selamolela Construction and Projects. Access to reliable transport to get construction products and the necessary machinery to construction sites was a problem. But now, having been in the industry for close to a decade, he says he is quite adept at managing complex problems.
With offices in Pretoria and Limpopo, Selamolela Construction and Projects has a staff complement of about ten, with a scope for increasing. Lamola is optimistic about growth prospects in the coming years. “I will ensure that the business reaches greater heights and success.”
As he heads to a construction site, Lamola has a priceless piece of advice to young people who want to follow his footsteps in the path of entrepreneurship. “First, spend money wisely. Second, seek financial advice and learn and educate yourself about your business and the business world in general.”
Young South Africans, who are highly affected by unemployment, can take a leaf from Lamola on how to turn adversity into opportunity.
“After losing my job as a policeman I was determined to overcome the challenge I faced. After a stint with a security company, I ventured into business,” he relates. And it must be added that it is a decision he will cherish forever!
All told, Selamolela Construction and Projects’ development is a well-deserved product of extraordinary patience, focus and constant innovation.
