The Gauteng MEC for Education Ms Barbara Creecy invites members of the media to a Job Fair/ Career Exhibition hosted by the department as part of its drive to contribute to the country’s fight against unemployment and the provision of skills to young people.
The job fair is mainly targeting 17028 Homework and Sports, Arts & Culture Assistants employed by the department in schools through the Extended Public Works Programme (ESSP). The contract of these workers comes to an end in March 2014
Throughout their employment the department has ensured that these works are equipped with the necessary skills that will give them the best chance of success as they exit the programme.
The Job Fair & Career Expo will provide a cost-effective recruitment platform for employers and the fastest job search engine for job seekers; especially the Extra School Support Programme (ESSP) workers; in order to pair the most suitable talents in relevant job vacancies.
Other envisaged benefits of the JOB FAIR are that ESSP workers will be able to develop their resume and apply for jobs best suitable for their careers.
