Tracy Thandeka Mkhize is set to become the Managing Director of the Table Mountain Aerial Cableway Company (TMACC), with her appointment taking effect on 1 October 2026. The move comes after more than two decades of experience across hospitality, tourism, operations, governance and business leadership.
Mkhize currently serves as Chief Operating Officer of the Cape Town International Convention Centre (CTICC), where she has built extensive experience in the business events and hospitality environment. Her career in the hospitality and tourism sectors spans more than 20 years and includes previous experience with Peermont Global and the CTICC.
Alongside her executive roles, Mkhize has also been involved in industry governance. She serves as Chairperson of the Cape Town Tourism Board and was re-elected to the board in 2025 for a further three-year term. Her involvement places her within wider discussions around the development and positioning of Cape Town’s tourism sector.
Her professional experience covers areas including operations, sustainability, governance, risk management, employment equity and transformation. These responsibilities have formed part of her work across various leadership positions throughout her career, giving her experience across both operational and strategic functions.
Mkhize has also been recognised within the Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Exhibitions (MICE) sector, including being named among the Top 40 Women in the industry. She is a Wits University alumna and holds an Executive MBA, adding to the professional and academic background she brings to her leadership roles.
Her appointment at TMACC will see her move from her current position at the CTICC into a new executive role from 1 October. She will take over the position as the company enters its next phase of leadership, bringing experience from the tourism, hospitality and business events sectors.
For Mkhize, the appointment represents a new step in a career that has included senior positions across hospitality and tourism, as well as participation in industry governance. Her move also comes at a time when women continue to take on increasingly prominent leadership positions across South Africa’s tourism and hospitality industries.
As she prepares to take up the role, Mkhize’s professional background will now become part of a new chapter for TMACC. Her appointment marks a transition from leading within the convention and business events environment to taking on responsibility within one of Cape Town’s most recognised tourism attractions. The role will place her experience within another important part of Cape Town’s tourism and visitor economy.
