FLUSHING TOILETS GIVE A COMMUNITY IN ALEXANDRA MUCH DESERVED PRIDE AND DIGNITY

Return2Love Foundation, in association Rebosis Property Fund, has ensured that a community at small Street at number 24-16th Avenue, Alexandra, get flushing toilets, and most importantly pride and dignity they deserve 27 years in the country’s multiracial democracy.

Return2Love Foundation realised that the community had been using bucket toilets for over 25 years. Bucket toilets posed both a safety and health risk to people of the community, which has has grown from 30 to over 120 families with each comprising a minimum of 3 to 8 people in one house.

Zandile Mbawu from Return2Love Foundation told Transform SA: “The donation of flushing toilets has brought so much relief to the lives of our people and we hope they will take a good care of this ablution facility as going back to the bucket toilet is not an option.”

Lauding Rebosis Property Fund’s role, she said, “Rebosis Property Fund has proven that it is not only the responsibility of Government to restore people’s dignity, together we can do more, together we change the lives of our people.”

While other people in affluent communities may take a flushing toilet for granted, for the community of Alexandra, long deprived of this basic service, it restores pride and dignity .
