Thembisa Skweyiya (Dingaan) has resigned as a non-executive director from Telkom effectively from Wednesday, the 10th of May 2017. This announcement was made by the telecommunications parastatal in a statement on Johannesburg Stock Exchange (JSE) information dissemination service, SENS. She had been a member of the parastatal’s board since December 2014.
Thembisa’s role in corporate South Africa has seen her serve on the boards of numerous companies where she has played a key role. According to Bloomberg, Thembisa is a Merchant Banker and has extensive business experience in mergers and acquisitions, empowerment transactions and structured corporate finance.
She is experienced in lease financing, capital markets, securitization, project finance and banking law. She was in corporate finance at Citicorp.
She holds BProc from the University of Natal, an LLB from the University of KwaZulu-Natal, an LLM from Harvard Law School and an HDip in Tax from the University of the Witwatersrand.
The Directors of Telkom have added that they extend their gratitude to Skweyiya for her invaluable contribution during her tenure on the Board and wish her well in her future endeavours.
