The Broad Based Black Economic Empowerment (B-BBEE) Commission will host a breakfast session in Midrand on Friday 24th March 2017. The B-BBEE Commissionwas established in terms of section 13B of the amended B-BBEE Act as an entity within the administration of the Department of Trade and Industry (the dti).
The session is aimed at presenting findings of the study commissioned in this financial year, to access the level of transformation using the two year period of 2014-2016 given the revision in codes of good practice 2015. The Minister of Trade and Industry, Dr Rob Davies will deliver a keynote address at the breakfast session.
The acting commissioner for the B-BBEE commission Ms Zodwa Ntuli says the breakfast session will provide opportunity to discuss the findings and more, the steps that the B-BBEE Commission is implementing given the findings.
“The B-BBEE Commission aims to publish an annual report on the national state of transformation as required in the revised B-BBEE Act, but this serves as a baseline and informs our compliance and enforcement strategies to enable the country to measure whether or not the B-BBEE Act is succeeding in achieving the objectives set for it. The B-BBEE Commission is generally not happy about the pace with which B-BBEE is implemented” says Ntuli.
