It’s a debut that did not shake the JSE, but, nonetheless, it is landmark from an economic transformation perspective.
Sasol Inzalo made its debut on the JSE Empowerment segment, today morning.
A jubilant Sasol Inzalo Chairperson, Khungeka Njobe, commented: “Today is a milestone for Sasol Inzalo and a positive indication of the next phase of growth for the share scheme. By listing Inzalo Public on the main board of the JSE, shareholders will be able to trade on a world class stock exchange and benefit for the flexibility this platform offers.”
Inzalo was established in 2008, as Sasol’s black economic empowerment scheme for black South Africans to won 10% of Sasol’s issued share capital. Njobe admitted that it had not been a smooth journey to the listing as there had been “ups and downs” along the way.
Sasol Inzalo has become the second listing on the empowerment segment after MTN Zakhele.
