After observing the alarming rate at which lending institutions were repossessing homes due to defaults on mortgage repayments, Masilo Magwele realised that there was an urgent need for educating homeowners on how to manage their properties and helping young professionals purchase their first homes. Thus, with experience accumulated while working as a sales partner at Realty1 and Eltec Properties, he decided that the most practical way he could play his part was through establishing African Breeze Construction and Projects in 2006.
The company, which trades as African Breeze Property Group, provides comprehensive real estate services to diverse clientele in the affordable market segment. “Our area of specialty is property sales and rental management in the affordable market, where we assist property developers, property investors, sellers and purchasers with all their property requirements,” elaborates Magwele.
He sees 15 years of combined experience which the African Breeze Property Group team possesses in the property industry as a competitive edge. “The majority of our employees come from a background of working closely with property developers in the Gap market selling affordable properties,” he says.
Another critical advantage is that African Breeze has forged a good relationship with property developers, who specialise in the affordable market developments, and the middle income earners, who are looking for decent affordable property to buy or to rent.
Moreover, African Breeze Property Group takes a “quality over quantity approach” to business and is circumspect in the manner it does its business. Magwele says the company offers affordable homes and its clients are pre-screened. “We are a young and energetic team who are passionate about good service.”
Having been in business for nine years, Magwele believes African Breeze Property Group can only grow bigger. “In five years I see the company operating as property developers and preferred service provider in the affordable housing market.”
One of the “crash” business lessons Magwele has learned in recent years, which he wished he had known earlier, is on the importance of financial management. But being better informed now, he is well-positioned to take African Breeze to another growth phase.
