There was nothing to have stopped Princess Ndiweni, from the staying in the comfort zone of a job at Sasol, one of the country’s highly rated bluechip companies where her salary was guaranteed every month end. Who would trade a Toyota Yaris, pay television and a few trappings of a middle class existence in South Africa for the toil of calling clients to pay for overdue invoices?
But, a former administrator at Sasol, Princess Ndiweni, became an entrepreneur not because of the want of instant gratification as others do, but to own her own business – and she was prepared to make sacrifices when need be.
Reminiscing, she says: “When the opportunity presented itself to start a company, I jumped at it. The zeal of owning a business in a male dominated industry was just a plus for me, I wanted to be one of those women who face the challenge head-on and simply do better and excel in it,” Ndiweni says, describing her outfit, Shando’s Construction, as a small company with a big vision.
“My passion is to be part of a transformed and competitive construction industry that delivers quality nfrastructure, promotes economic growth and also become a company that cares for its employees.”
Since establishment in 2011, Ndiweni and her business partner, Dickson Dlala, has built Shando’s Construction into a respectable entity, excelling through the quality of work it produces. Over the years, the company has achieved great results working closely with construction giants such Group Five, WBHO, Dalmar Construction, Trecon Construction, Cross Border, Gorogang and Toro ya Africa.
Besides 100 employees scattered across Gauteng province, the company is well-resourced to carry out sizeable capacity of work.
Besides building construction, Shando’s Construction offers a number ofservices including plumbing, paving, landscaping, electrical, carpentry and painting among other specialities.
