It’s high time government practised what it preaches about realising the potential of the small business sector. A number of business analysts have said this or something on these lines in recent years. And the most recent personality to lend his voice to the cause is Alfie Naidoo, chairperson of small business incubation services company, Raizcorp.
Citing red tape as one of the biggest hindrances, Naidoo said the biggest worry from small business owners was to spend up to eight days a month just to deal with the growing number of administrative functions that the government expects them to comply with.
Naidoo bemoaned: “Small business just can’t afford to take this amount of time off every month.”
Red tape issues include dealing with SARS, municipalities, central regulatory authorities, labour law requirements or complying with other regulations.
