Construction Charter Council Executive, Thabo Musumbuka, is confident that his organisation will meet the deadline of finalising the construction sector code to align it with the Department of Trade and Industry’s code of good practice.
“The target is that by the end of September we will be done with the round robin discussions so that by end of October we are ready to gazette the revised code for public comments. That will leave December and January for public comment.”
Masumbuka said the Council’s board had signed had unanimously agreed on the approved programme to be followed in revising the code. He added that the council was consulting both established and emerging businesses.
Some organisations view the deadline set by the dti’s for all charter councils to comply by January 2015 as being unrealistic. Upon fiinalisation, individual companies will have five months to implement them.
