Joburg’s Regional Carnivals to bring communities together in African spirit

The City of Joburg’s Community Development Department in partnership with the Gauteng Department of Sport, Recreation, Arts and Culture will be hosting the 10th Gauteng Carnival themed “Celebrating Africa’s Legacy” and with this theme Joburg will celebrate the spiritual beauty of the West African people.

In preparation for the Gauteng Carnival that will take place on the 08th December 2013 at Johannesburg Stadium, Community Development will showcase the work done to prepare for the main day in all the seven Regions in the City on the 30 November 2013.

Joburg residence can expect to see an electrifying spectacle when the City streets in all seven Regions of the City of Joburg come alive with colorful costumes, music and dances uniting all the different cultural groups that reside in Joburg.

The Carnival is one of Community Development flagship events which promote social cohesion and the unification of the City’s residence. All residents are invited to come and witness people from the West African Countries like Ghana, Senegal, Nigeria and Cameroon parading as one with participants from the different Regions, through safe, vibrant and fun filled street parades that will entice spectators of what is to come on the 08th December 2013 at Johannesburg Stadium.
