The Cancer Association of South Africa (CANSA) is a community-driven and volunteer-based organization that has been fighting cancer for over 80 years. Since its beginning in 1931, CANSA has been relying on the unselfish dedication and commitment of ordinary South Africans who have an extraordinary impact on those whose lives have been touched by cancer. For over 80 years, CANSA volunteers have helped spread awareness and raise funds for the comprehensive service that are provided to the public and all people affected by cancer.
CANSA needs more volunteers to support the work done in fighting cancer. The more than 5,000 trained volunteers are foot soldiers in the fight against cancer and carry out invaluable work in areas in need. Without volunteers, CANSA would not be able to provide holistic care and support to those affected by cancer.
Every single volunteer is a pillar of strength and a lifeline to those in desperate need of one of the most important things when embarking on the journey – hope. Oscar Wilde said: “The smallest act of kindness is worth more than the grandest intention”.
Make a difference right now and visit the CANSA website to sign up as a volunteer. CANSA will provide all the information and training needed for volunteers to turn your good intentions into tangible, loving care and support to help change the lives of cancer survivors.
CANSA will ask about your interests and your strengths and where you see yourself fitting in with CANSA, for example in patient care, fundraising, marketing, administration or training.
