The Gauteng Department of Education (GDE) condemns in the strongest possible terms the assault of an educator by a Grade 8 learner at Glenvista High School.
The Head of Department has already dispatched a team of senior officials to the school to ensure that immediate action is taken to suspend the learner, provide counselling to the educator and begin disciplinary process.
The assault which happened on Wednesday
18 September in full view of learners was captured on camera by fellow learners at the school.
The Department commends the educator for displaying his professionalism by remaining calm and not retaliating.
