New chief operating officer for reserve bank

Pretoria – Pradeep Maharaj has been appointed to the newly-created position of chief operating officer of the Reserve Bank.

On Wednesday, the bank said the chief operating office will be responsible for the support services cluster of the bank.

Maharaj, whose appointment takes effect on 1 November, has been head of human resources and transformation at Absa Capital since November 2011. He has also worked for Transnet and the Gauteng Provincial Government Department of Finance and Economic Affairs.

“The Bank welcomes Mr Maharaj and takes this opportunity to wish him well as he takes up his new challenges and responsibilities,” said the central bank in a statement.

He holds a Bachelor of Accounting Science from Unisa and a Senior Executive Programme certificate from Harvard and Wits Business Schools. – SAnews.gov.za
