Pretoria – The Department of Trade and Industry and the Congress of Traditional Leaders of SA (Contralesa) have signed an agreement that will benefit and develop rural communities.
In signing a Memorandum of Agreement both parties have agreed to work together to empower the congress and its sub-structures to form businesses that will assist communities in accessing what the department has to offer.
The department’s Deputy Minister Elizabeth Thabethe said the partnership would enhance the access to services offered by the dti.
“We are resolved in designing programs that meet the needs of communities. Our relations are a precursor to future partnerships with other social partners as we seek to consolidate the democratic developmental state,” she said.
Contralesa President iNkosi Phathekile Holomisa said the agreement heralded a new era of opportunities for rural communities. – BuaNews
